Matthew Thwaites is an Austin, Texas-based technology and analytics professional serving as Director of Analytics at Open Loot Studios. In this leadership role, he guides analytics strategy across a portfolio of games, managing teams that develop data infrastructure connecting marketplace activity, player behavior, and product performance. His work supports product decision-making through statistical modeling, machine learning, experimentation frameworks, retention analysis, conversion optimization, and fraud detection.
Before advancing into his current position, Mr. Thwaites worked with Big Time Studios as a marketing analytics manager. There, he directed performance advertising initiatives and influencer partnership campaigns designed to acquire users and purchasers efficiently. His professional services and expertise span data pipeline development, AI-driven insights, A/B/n testing, performance marketing, marketplace analytics, and campaign measurement across major digital advertising platforms.
Mr. Thwaites earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yale University, where he graduated cum laude, competed on the varsity cross country and track teams, served as President of Trumbull College, and received the Presidential Fellowship. He later completed an MBA at the University of Pennsylvania, earning the Hildebrandt and Palmer awards.
Prior to his analytics career, Matthew Thwaites spent a decade as a US Army infantry officer, including service connected to Special Operations. His military work included advising diplomatic leadership during peace negotiations involving the United States, Afghanistan, and Taliban representatives, for which he received the Bronze Star Medal. Active in professional and public communities, he is also a speaker, social media commentator, runner, and jiu-jitsu practitioner.
